Former Soldier’s Discharge Upgraded

I represented a former soldier who had severe PTSD from his time in Iraq and Afghanistan. When he got back from the war he had a complete mental breakdown and went AWOL, believing his wife (who had left him) and their son had been kidnapped. Instead of assisting him with his mental health issues, the Army separated him with an Other Than Honorable Discharge, which is a bar to nearly all VA health related medical treatment. As such, his PTSD went untreated and he continued to spiral downward. He retained me to petition the Army Discharge Review Board for an upgrade to his discharge. We were successful in doing so and, as a result, this former soldier is now receiving the mental health care he desperately needs.
