Army Major's Retirement and Career Saved
Mr. Cassara recently represented an Army Major at Fort Sill, OK who was charged with 68 specifications (charges) including cyber stalking, computer infiltration, larceny, fraud, extortion, fraternization, adultery and conduct unbecoming an officer. After extensive negotiations, Mr. Cassara secured a plea agreement where his client would plead guilty to fraternization, adultery and conduct unbecoming an officer. This reduced his maximum punishment from hundreds of years confinement to roughly 12. Mr. Cassara then filed a motion in court that reduced the maximum punishment to five years confinement. After a fully litigated sentencing hearing, the officer was sentenced to partial forfeiture of pay for two months and a reprimand. He was not confined, and did not receive a dismissal (punitive discharge.) This excellent result allows his client to remain in the military and retire with an honorable discharge and all of his benefits.
